A first trip to the range is easy with a little preparation. Here is what to bring and what to expect at a Nevada range.

What to bring
- Eye and ear protection
- Your firearm, unloaded and cased
- The right ammunition for your firearm
- Government-issued photo ID
- Targets and a stapler if the range does not provide them
- Water, especially at outdoor ranges
The basic safety rules
- Treat every gun as if it is loaded.
- Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

Range etiquette
Listen to the range officer, follow cease-fire calls right away and never go forward of the firing line while anyone is shooting. Ask questions. Range staff would rather explain than fix a problem.
